First of all I would like to thanks Nuffnang and Robb for the invitation for this press screening. This would be my first time to watch the movie before it release worldwide. This experience really means a lot to me. I feel like VIP. Hehe..

Cast:
Jet Li As Monkey King and Silent Monk
Jackie Chan As Lu Yan and Old Hop
Michael A. Angarano (as Jason Tripitikas)
Liu Yifei (as Golden Sparrow)
Li Bingbing (as Ni Chang, the White-Haired Demoness)
Collin Chou (as Jade Warlord)

When Jackie Chan Meet Jet Li-The Forbidden Kingdom 功夫之王(Gong Fu Zhi Wang)

This is the movie whereby east meet west which combined both eastern and western culture. My opinion is this movie target more on western market. 90% of the movie is spoken in English and occasionally in Mandarin. If you like marshal art this movie is for you.

But don’t expect too much as The Forbidden Kingdom is not the cinematic version of any specific Chinese literary work and even less of the classic Chinese novel "Journey to the West". Rather, the filmmakers wanted to draw some of the characters and situations from such tradition to tell a new and contemporary story. ..

This movie is about the 17-year-old Jason Tripitikas’ bedroom is covered with posters of movie stars and martial arts heroes. As a kungfu fanatic, Jason often dreams of The Monkey King and frequents a Chinatown pawn shop, run by a mysterious blind old man named Old Hop, for low-priced kungfu DVDs. One day, he chances upon a six-foot-long bo staff with a bronze monkey carved onto the end at the shop – just like the one the Great Sage uses in his dreams. Old Hop tells him the staff has been in the store since his grandfather opened it a hundred years ago and is not for sale – a man was supposed to come and collect it to return it to its rightful owner, but has never showed up. The story continued with the journey of how Jason saves the monkey king.
This is my first time I saw Jet Li doing some funny stuff as it already norm for Jackie Chan. A lot of action (marshal art), storyline wise are quite simple. Not the normal martial art movie you would normally see in other Chinese movie. However this movie is still enjoyable with the cast of this big name like Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Liu YiFei

My Final Verdict is 4/5 Star.
